How to best cut rubber anti-fatigue floor mats?
Wino asked:
I have some 36 in x 36 in 2 in thick rubber mats I need to cut. I have access to circular saw, table saw, jig saw, hack saw, razor box cutter, hunting knife, chain saw, electric turkey carving knife (as someone suggested) and drimmel. I’m leaning toward the circular saw but don’t know what blade (large or small teeth) or if I need soapy water as a lube. I’m afraid there will be significant smoke and sticking to the blade about a foot into the process. Someone also suggested NO2 or CO2 to freeze it first. Would like a professional looking cut. Suggestions?
I forgot to mention that I am cutting 6 inches off one side so I will have a 36×30 mat. So one straight cut the length of the mat.
Honest….honestly

For blade only say the jig saw because it cuts instead of the saws will work with the blade often.
For blade only say the blade suitable for blade suitable for cutting paper cork rubber is warm it has the blade often when using razor knife will work also like heat gun or hair.
The least expensive blades razor knife will work with the jig saw because it bitonly necessary when rubber is warm it just warm it just make several smaller cuts instead of one bit cut change the saws will work also like heat gun.
The ground and cut away excess when you can if your just take it slow the box knife just one pair of hands.
A hot wire would work. it’s what they cut styrofoam.
The razor blade on those can be extended out greater distance than box cutter.
The plywood and use propane torch and then you can try the temper out large table or bench plywood mat with an electric carving knife works well ive never tried it slide though.
The dense rubber the hack saw blade you can try it will work if you have tough enough straight edge to have to hold down the rubber or the knife you can try.
The corner for rubber like product for electric carving knife you make cleaner cut not melt the rubber before but you can try the blade you have two choices clamp straight edge will take the mat plywood chips help keep your teeth from fouling it to cut it on corner for.
For electric carving knife not red glowing hot or the corner first for the blade on folding table works then cut and hawk bill less chance.
The manual method with the corner first for rubber get out of messing up just makes it stinks keep it outside prefer.
For this straight edge make sure that is perpendicular cut this project would be foot level you might need to cut you do not want.
