The room or or just say i looked around and noticed hot luscious piece of manly meat sitting at table across the room or older guy or young man or or older guy or or older guy or older guy.
The man one hope you figure it out good luck with your point but would say the man one hope you figure it out good luck with your story.
Hmm , how about” I looked around and noticed someone sitting at a table across the room.” Then explain what he looks like and the age ,and stuff. I hope this helps

How about “I looked around and noticed a young man sitting at a table across the room”?
Actually, if your story is first-person from a teenager’s point of view, she most likely would have said “I looked around and noticed a guy sitting at a table across the room”, or more than likely “this guy”. But it’s your story; if you’d rather have her speak more properly, I’d go with “young man”.
