Fun Bedroom Furniture

Cherrywood and Maple. The maple was colored with a yellow dye stain, the red circles are padded and covered with fabric. The Cherry is Natural. May have to look close but at the bottom of the beds and wall unit there are shoes with shoe laces for feet. The side rails are removable as the children grow. Yes that is a train the goes all through the house.
The little desk unit has flipper doors with cut outs for the round knobs to pass and a pull out writing table

This week we’ll talk about how to trick out a workbench! No we’re not adding racing stripes or spinning wheel covers. Instead, Carol Beronich will discuss the benefits of adding storage units in the open space below the bench top.
Our cabinet is made with MDF, just like the workbench worksurface. Building it adds another [...]

Eye Candy

Working hard the past few days to get my pens on the web. I like making the pens, but the photography and creating display backgrounds seem to be more of a challenge.
1st Nouveau Sceptre (set) – Smoke-n-Mirrors – Acrylic
2nd Turquoise – TruStone
3rd Red Jasper – TruStone

I want to thank all of the LumberJocks for their help and comments on my past postings and my requests for help.

Mom's Knick Knack Shelf

Mom's Knick Knack Shelf

Well, it’s finally done! Took me forever to design and build but just in time for her to take home as she leaves after visiting on Thanksgiving. She gets to take this Christmas present home early.

All solid cherry, with an applique I bought (sorry carving not one of my talents). Measures about 18” X 25” overall. Finish is shellac, General Finishes Warm Cherry stain, and three coats or spray on minwax ploy (satin). The stain was a quick five minute application just to add some red and even the overall color but also allow the real color come through. Overall I think it came out quite well. All the miters came out very well…and that makes me feel good..lol.

Designed from a picture on the internet of an old french antique and just kind of felt my way through it adding my own modifications to make it look how I wanted. First time with no plans and its definitely harder than I thought it would be, but I learned a lot.
